Sled Timeless Trio

My last card featuring Holiday Magic stamp of the month (available now through October 31, 2011) is from Wishes.
Timeless Trio from Wishes

The sled was stamped in Chocolate on top of Grey Wool runners.  I had tried masking the runners and bringing down the sled, but that didn't look right.  I then separated the runners from the sled to lower the sled, and that didn't look right.  I ended up here and used the second runners to make the sled look more dimensional.  I think it works.  :)  The tree is also raised with foam tape (a thinner version of ours) to give even more depth.  By the way, the tree was cut to fit into the sled before red, pink, and blue sparkles were added.

Attention Getter Holiday Magic Card

The second card of the three samples for October's stamp of the month (available until October 31, 2011) features the Attention Getter Pattern from Wishes.

This card features prisma glitter stocking top, and clear sparkles.  I kept this card nice and simple too because the colors are so vibrant.  No alternative cards though.  I liked this one just the way it is.
Attention Getter from Wishes

How do you apply prisma glitter?

1) Apply bonding memories glue to the surface you wish to be glittered.  I used the narrow tipped glue here although I could have used the larger tipped glue -- go figure.
2) While the glue is still wet (and blue), tap the glitter onto the glue.  A little goes a long way.  An alternative method is to dump the glitter onto the surface.  That works too.
3) Up end the image to remove excess glitter.  If you are applying a lot of glitter, I'd  recommend the craft tray.  Since I only applied glitter to the one image, I dumped the excess onto a large piece of paper.  I have to warn you, the glitter likes to stick to surfaces, thus my tapping glitter onto the surface in step 2.
4) Flick the back of the image with your finger to remove any glitter that didn't come off in step 3.  You'll be glad you do this step because quite a bit of glitter will still come off.
5) Enjoy the shimmer!

More In-Depth Look at Holiday Magic from CTMH

I thought I'd share with you how these cards look different than my workshop cards -- besides the obvious reasons of differing paper and stamps.  Oh, wait, there isn't any other difference!

This first one corresponds to the first Dreamin' Workshop on the Go card sample.  The Dreamin' card can be found on page 37 of the Autumn/Winter 2011 Idea Book.  This first card is a new pattern thus is not named.

A simpler card that entails the tree as the focal point with a rhinestone designer brad at the top.  A Topiary second generation tree was rolled in Topiary ink before stamping.  The trunk was stamped in Chocolate after the tree was cut out.  If I had to do it again, I'd stamp the trunk and then cut the image out as one.

I thought the card needed something, but what.  I thought about adding ribbon but white ribbon wouldn't stand out against the white background.  I like the symmetry of the pattern so I didn't want to add any brads to either side.  I decided to add stitching!  It amazes me how something so trivial as marker lines can such a big difference.  Which card do you like better?

Holiday Magic: October 2011 Stamp of the Month

Want to know a secret?  By changing your paper and stamps, you'd never know the cards were the same.  The same holds true for layouts.  But today I'm going to show you three cards whose patterns I used for this month's workshop.

Holiday Magic -- October 2011 SOTM
Each card uses the above stamp set and Believe Paper Packet.
