Sample for National Stamping Month

Another last call, this time for the National Stamping Month Stamp Sets.  You would have seen this card on my facebook page if you follow it.

**go ahead now, and "like" my page so you can get sneak peaks of things that get explained here.  Go to facebook.com/dsdoodlesCTMH and in the header you should be able to like my page! **

Anyway, here is a card I made using the Scrapbooking stamp set.  There is nothing on the set that says, "Only use with Scrapbooking!"  Each of the stamp sets, as a matter of fact, have their strengths.  You could be very happy with any, and all, three of the sets.  I showed the sets in an earlier post, so I won't show it again.  I'll just show you the purty card.  : )

Originals - Delightful Dots pattern is what I based the card design around.  I really like how the colors of Nevermore paper work and compliment so well.  I even colored the Silver Sequin to bring a little more color to the card.  What did I color with?  With our Lavender ShinHan Touch Twin Marker (Z2453).

These stamp sets are going away in mere hours.  Don't procrastinate and miss out.  They are going, going, gone at 10:59pm (PST) on September 30, 2015.

Paper Garden Crackers with Nevermore

Before September ends, I'd like to share a couple of crackers I made with our Stamp of the Month and Nevermore paper.

This one I thought specifically for Halloween with the black flowers and leaves.  The entire cracker was sponged with Black ink.  Black Shimmer Tape and Silver Sequins finished off the look.

My second one doesn't scream Halloween to me.  I think it's a little nicer (that's not the right word, but I can't think of a better one right now).  Here, the "for you" was heat embossed on the Nevermore background paper.  I actually cut the Silver Shimmer Tape in half lengthwise (yes, I'm a penny pincher!) since not much was going to show.  Slate ink was used to stamp the chicken wire image and  to sponge around the inner edges.  Sunset is the flower; Pear the leaves; Bitty Sparkles are in the center of the flower; and Thistle Extra Thick Twine keeps this cracker closed.
These are two more samples for why Paper Garden (S1509) should be in your possession!  This is one stamp set you will use again and again.  Don't be sorry you don't own it - order yours before 10:59pm (PST) Wednesday September 30, 2015

A Little Note stamp set card

I thought I was going to have to share a card with a retired stamp set... but NOT!  : )
This stamp set does retire December 1, 2015 though.  I bought it because I thought it would make for a quick card.  I was not disappointed!  I wanted to have the flower bunch as the focal so I perused Wishes index and found cards with square looking focals.  The pattern here is Sentiment Secured.  The card uses La Vie En Rose (X7201B) background paper with Canary (X5772) and Fern (X5777) cardstock.
The flowers were colored with Pastel Green (Z2459) as the base, then coming out from the center Golden Yellow (Z2452), and the top layer was Marigold (Z2457) - the darkest accent.  The stems were a base coat of Sap Green (Z2463) and highlighted with Leaf Green (Z2454).  That was adhered on the Canary cardstock that I sponged with Canary ink (Z2643).  The saying is part of the stamp set A Little Note(A1171) and is stamped in Black (Z2105) on Fern cardstock.  Black cardstock backs the Fern cardstock - I sponged the edges of that too with Fern ink (Z2650).

One of the finishing touches were adding the Bitty Sparkles (Z1263).  The last was mounting the canary focal paper on Thin 3D Foam Tape (Z2060) -- you can't see that well from this angle.

I think this card is one of simple elegance, personally!  The black background really makes the colors pop!!  I LIKE IT  : )

October's 2015 Goodie Bag Workshop

A fellow consultant, Kelly English-Triggs, designed three of these tags (look at the bottom picture and subtract the four I made).  That was enough for me to see the possibilities and RUN with it!  We used the Artbooking cartridge.  I used Design Studio (you can also use Craft Room) to make life a little easier.

These are the four I made after seeing Kelly's creations (in Nevermore Paper colors).  The Design Studio/Craft Room is very helpful so there is no cutting around the odd shapes because you can hide contours online (that you can't when using the Cricut machine as a stand alone).  The upper left "happy Halloween" is the perfect example with the bone outline.  "Boo" and the lit house are the other tags I utilized the "hide contour" feature.

These are the bags we'll be putting together in their completed form October 3rd.  I've combined old paper with some new colors - Flaxen as my yellow and Eggplant as my purple.

I suggest making up a batch of these for your coworkers, friends, and family.  Why not let Halloween get in on the giving action?!

What additional ones can you come up with?!

If you'd like to make all of them, I would suggest the following items:

Artbooking Cricut Collection
B1488   Pumpkin Chevron stamp set ("BOO!" and "trick or treat" over pumpkin)
X7198B  Nevermore Paper Packet (includes Eggplant, Whisper, Black and Sunset)
Z2642  Flaxen Cardstock will complement Nevermore paper and work well
Z2647  Eggplant ink
Z2105  Black ink
Z3040  Thistle Extra Thick Twine OR
Z3095  Whisper Thick Twine
Z2036  Slate Designer Bags (come in a set of 12)
Z1809  Black Shimmer Tape OR
Z1919  Purple Shimmer Tape (not shown) OR
Z1799  Silver Shimmer Tape (not shown)

Card Using Paper Garden

Now that you've been impressed with corporate's stamp of the month samples, I want to show you mine.  Oh, wait, maybe I should have done it the other way around!

Simple and elegant - this 3.5" x 8" card is from Originals and is called Top View.  The pattern can be found on page 86.

I rotated the Paper Garden (S1509) image to the orientation shown, stamped on the Colonial White in Cocoa ink, and then stamped it again on scratch cardstock.  I cut out the main flower to emphasis it that much more.  The focal flower was matted on Desert Sand - Champagne is also a good choice - and layered on Sangria (X7199B) paper.  The Flaxen Extra Thick Twine (Z3036) is two pieces - one for the bow and one for the line.  I used Liquid Glass (Z679) to adhere the twine.

Finally, I added "thanks" to the bottom of the card in Cocoa ink (Z2114). Can't find the font under fonts section of the book?  Check out page 137 under the Base and Bling section.  The stamp set is great to monogram your necklaces.  But it also works well for cards!  The stamp set is called Etched Alphabet (A1182).

September 2015 Stamp of the Month

Here is this month's stamp of the month -Paper Garden (S1509).  These two samples are from Corporate.  They are really nice, aren't they?

The card and the layout's background flower were created by stamping the image in Whisper ink and then using watercolors to color the images.  You'll have the Whisper stamped image as your guide.  When using watercolor, you want to start with your lightest color and work your way toward darker colors.
