Happy 2014! I'm on Cloud Nine

I hope everyone had a delightful holidays 2013.  Yes, that includes Thanksgiving.  It has been some time since I've last posted.  I had some great family time and "away from it" time.  Now I'm raring to go!

This month is National Papercrafting Month and Close to my Heart is celebrating with Cloud Nine cardmaking kit.

You can get an exclusive Cloud Nine cardmaking kit for $15 (retail value $46) with a qualifying purchase of $35 or more (excluding tax and shipping) during January in celebration of National Papercrafting Month. Make 10 adorable cards (2 each of 5 designs) with funky messages to put any recipient on cloud nine! You can add one cardmaking kit for every $35 in your order*.

Watch the campaign video and then contact me for more details (if necessary).

*Note that Cloud Nine cardmaking kits do not count toward qualifying order totals. The retail value of the order is totaled prior to determining promotional kit eligibility (while supplies last items are not eligible). For example, if you purchase $60 in retail items, and add a single card kit for $15, that $75 purchase does NOT qualify you to add a second promotional kit. The qualifying base purchase is exclusive of promotional cardmaking kits.

If you purchase the kit by January 20th, as a bonus, I'll send you sponge daubers!  Just go to my website and join the Cloud Nine Workshop gathering.  I'll know you ordered the kit by the 20th, and will send you 3 sponge daubers, on me.  : )

While shopping look through the retiring items category.  Those items are going away January 31, 2014.

If you are local, join me on Monday February 24th or Tuesday February 25th to cut and assembly your kit.  In addition, you'll make four more cards with leftover paper.  Can't make it or don't live in San Diego?  Not to worry, because I'll email you the cutting diagram and pictures of the completed cards.

Missing the January 20th deadline is not a big deal.  I'll still send you the cutting diagram and pictures of the extra card.  But don't wait too long... the promotion is only available until January 31, 2014 (or while supplies last).

So, as you look at these pictures, and the promotion, look beyond the paper.  It's the stamp set that's the real winner here.  As you can see in the next picture, I used the cutting guide from the cardmaking kit with Lola paper (made a few more cuts to compensate for the washi tape) and have more cards!  Therefore the possibilities are endless!

What will you need to complete Cloud Nine cardmaking kit?
Lagoon ink (Z2195)
Sunset ink (Z2191)
2”x6½” block (Y1010)
3”x3” block (Y1006)
3D foam tape (Z1151)
adhesive
scissors
paper cutter
For one of the extra cards, I used Honey ink (Z2162), but you could use Sunset ink instead
Sponge daubers (Z726) for the extra cards

A Burst of Sunshine Video Tutorial

Kristine and Monica show us how to make a card using scraps of paper!  It's nice to know I'm not the only one who keeps small pieces of leftovers! ;)

The stamped saying Monica used is from All the Details (D1555) stamp set.  The set can be found on page 101 of the Fall/Winter 2013 Idea Book.  The sunburst base shape can also be found on that carrier sheet.  Remember, if there is a red outline around an image, there is a corresponding Cricut cut.  And if you look below the stamp set name, the cartridge is mentioned.

Fall into CTMH's Cricut Artbooking Cartridge

Today's video highlights two keys from the Artbooking cartridge.  Jill also mentions looking beyond the grouping of the images.  For instance, as she points out, the arrow overlay and photo mat (containing an arrow) would be great for Valentine's day.  But it would also be great for any occasion that needs highlighting -- prom, summer, a special award or accomplishment.  While we're at it, the tree can be used in a family tree page or a generational picture.  It could symbolize Spring cut in greens and vibrant colors.

So let your imagination go and enjoy where it takes you.  Make sure you jot down notes, though, so you'll be able to remember later!  ;)

Remarkable Wreath Workshop Breakdown

It's been awhile since the workshop and I thought I'd share with you the cards in more detail.

Spring

With Spring comes new growth and color.  Chantilly paper was perfect for this season and is accented with Sweet Leaf and Buttercup cardstock.  The Wreath was stamped with Sweet Leaf ink (leaves) and Cotton Candy (flowers and bow).  The card may look familiar if you look in the Wishes card program book on page 27 -- I've modified Lucky Layers.  Sparkles add a touch of whimsy.

Summer

The leaves have fallen off but there are plenty of flowers still around in summer.  This card features Sarita paper packet and accenting colors of Gypsy and Twilight.  The bow is Cotton Candy.  Make it from Your Heart Vol. 2 is where this pattern comes from and can be found as pattern #24.  Sparkles are added to, well, make it sparkle!

Autumn

Huntington paper packet brings out the colors of Autumn wonderfully.  The leaves of this wreath were made by sponge daubing three colors randomly -- Goldrush, Autumn Terracotta, and Barn Red.  Another Make it from Your Heart Vol. 2 pattern here -- #28 -- along with opals gives the card just the right look.  All papers were sponged with Barn Red ink.

Winter

Finally there is Winter.  Frosted paper packet and color combinations make this a soothingly warm card.  Notice the background circles?  Those were made from the new Stitch Guide (Z1852)!  I love that you can make circles, stars, chevrons, and more with this tool.  And where did this pattern come from?  Take a look at page 89 in the Autumn/Winter 2013 Idea Book and you will see a similar card.  I took that Make it from Your Heart Vol. 1 pattern #20 card and made it my own!

Lindsey Creates Studio J Layouts

Remember I told you Lindsey and I biked across California in the Spring?  Lindsey captured some of her memories with Studio J.  I only helped her with technique, and access to the pictures.  She did the rest!

These are the first two days of riding.  Not too shabby for an 11 year old!
